Environmental Advantages:
As the rainforest continues to be tapped for timber needs, coconut palms have been an overlooked and under-utilized resource. By using Durapalm®, consumers will help reduce rainforest harvesting. Palms hold great potential for sustainable export lumber products in the developing world.

Plantation-grown palms produce nuts for more than 100 years. As palms get taller with age, nutrients traveling from the base cannot reach the nuts efficiently, thus diminishing production. The taller palms are eventually removed and replaced with younger palms. This felled timber has no developed secondary market and frequently goes unused.

Durapalm® coconut palms only grow to approximately 12" in diameter but can reach 100 feet or more in height. Unlike wood, coconut palm is darker and harder at the perimeter and is soft and light in color at its core. The logs are cut in a special process, then sliced and kiln dried before the lamination process begins. Non-toxic adhesives are used in the lamination process to maintain the environmental value of the end product.

Applications:
Durapalm® works like wood, machines like wood and is available in a 30" x 72" panel. We have found this material to be an elegant replacement for rainforest exotics such as Wenge and Mahogany. Durapalm applications include contract and residential furniture, store fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, decorative wall panels and general architectural millwork.
